Reasons I love my neighborhood

I was just walking my dog and we met a 5-month-old bassett hound named Mookie Wilson. Then an old black man whizzed by in a wheelchair yelling, either to the guy in the car behind him or the woman in the wheelchair on the sidewalk, "I'm gonna beat you!"

Comments:
Ha, ha! Yes, it's always fun for a privileged white person to move into a gentrified neighborhood and laugh at the savages. It's a good thing rising property tax rates haven't driven them all out!

It was funny to see someone exuberantly, competitively whizzing down the middle of the street. There was nothing savage about him. Geez.

Wow, Anonymous - you seem to know a lot about the author and her neighborhood. You even managed to figure out the fact that she is racist and privileged! Good for you. I assume you're hard at work on that phrenology degree so you can make even faster snap judgements about people without all the bother of actually meeting or talking to them.

For those that have seen Avenue Q:

Everyone's a little bit racist
Sometimes.
Doesn't mean we go
Around committing hate crimes.
Look around and you will find
No one's really color blind.
Maybe it's a fact
We all should face
Everyone makes judgments
Based on race.

If we all could just admit
That we are racist a little bit,
Even though we all know
That it's wrong,
Maybe it would help us
Get along.

Congratulations, Amanda. The blog just became post-modern. :)
